Under the CURANTO brand, EGN Entsorgungsgesellschaft mbH, a subsidiary of SWK AG based in Viersen, launched its ambitions in 2017 to open up the supra-regional private customer business. To provide disposal solutions beyond its own catchment area, it needed on the one hand a well-organised partner network of local waste disposal companies for the provision and collection of containers as well as the proper disposal of waste. On the other hand, it needed a user-friendly platform that would generate sufficient consumer interest and encourage further partners to join.
Business processes require a bespoke solution
CURANTO uses an ERP system already deployed at EGN for many years to handle its business processes. This is an industry-specific solution for the waste management sector, highly tailored to EGN's operational workflows. To meet these process requirements, a custom-built e-commerce solution was needed. To stand out from competing providers, a waste adviser was to be created as a tool for inexperienced users, enabling them with just a few clicks to find the right container and suitable service for their individual disposal project at the local offer price. Since waste disposal necessarily goes hand in hand with a regional service offering, it was particularly important for CURANTO to be found in the local search context.
An established presence in waste disposal services
The custom-built web shop went live in 2017 and has been continuously developed ever since. In 2024 the shop underwent a comprehensive relaunch in which both the front end and the back-end architecture were fundamentally modernised. Among other things, the rental of construction-site and event toilets was successfully established as a further business line with new process requirements. Further relevant feature extensions include dynamic advertising inventory within the shop and partnerships with well-known companies in building materials retail and interior fitting.

Technologies used
The custom development is based on the PHP Laravel open-source framework combined with a front end consisting of Bootstrap and Vue.js. Large parts of the application are based on the REST API connection to the ERP system in use.
